Tokyo, Japan — NOF CORPORATION is pleased to announce that its European branch, NOF EUROPE GmbH, will participate in the upcoming Biomarkers & Precision Medicine 2025 to be held at QEII London, Broad Sanctuary, London SW1P 3EE, UK from September 30 to October 1.

In the event, the company will showcase its LIPIDURE® series products and related technologies at booth #53. LIPIDURE® is a series of MPC polymer based products applicable to various fields including diagnostics, eye care medical devices and pharmaceuticals.

The company will also feature the BIOLIPIDURE® series products, which are useful for designing in vitro diagnostics and biochemical assay reagent as an alternative for BSA

Additionally, Haruki Kohatsu, Senior Scientist at NOF CORPORATION, will deliver a poster presentation at the poster area of the main hall.

【Presentation Title】 Introduction of BIOLIPIDURE®, an additive for diagnostics

【Abstract】 BIOLIPIDURE® is an additive for in vitro diagnostics made from a polymer based on 2-methacryloyloxyethyl phosphorylcholine (MPC), which is obtained by copolymerization of MPC with various comonomers. MPC is a polymerizable monomer that contains a phosphorylcholine group, which is the hydrophilic component of phospholipids on cell membranes. Therefore, MPC enables molecular design tailored to various assay systems, including nucleic acid amplification methods and immunoassays such as CLEIA and immunochromatography, by appropriately selecting the comonomer to be copolymerized with MPC. Generally, BIOLIPIDURE® is a bio-inert compound that mimics cell membranes, allowing it to avoid being recognized as a foreign substance by living organisms and preventing interaction with the organism. As a result, BIOLIPIDURE® exhibits high biocompatibility, including the ability to inhibit protein adsorption and denaturation. Thanks to these properties, BIOLIPIDURE® is widely used for the following purposes: (1) suppression of non-specific protein adsorption, (2) stabilization of proteins, and (3) sensitization as an additive for in vitro diagnostics across various assay systems. For example, the enzyme activity of horseradish peroxidase-labeled IgG in PBS solution declines to less than 10% after storage for 10 days at 4°C, whereas the activity in the solution with BIOLIPIDURE® can be maintained at 100% for over 400 days at 4°C. Additionally, since BIOLIPIDURE® is a synthetic material, it exhibits high stability, minimal lot-to-lot variation, and a lower biohazard risk compared to protein-based reagents. In this presentation, we will introduce the methods of use and the functions of BIOLIPIDURE® in various measurement systems.
